# Welcome to The Password App!

This guide will help you install the app, import your passwords, and change your first password using AI automation.

## What you'll accomplish

By the end of this guide, you'll have:

- Installed The Password App on your Mac  
- Imported passwords from your current password manager  
- Changed your first password automatically

## Step 1: Download and install

1. Visit the [download page](/content/download/index.html) and click **Download for macOS**  
2. Open the downloaded `.dmg` file  
3. Drag The Password App to your Applications folder  
4. Launch the app from Applications

**Note:** On first launch, macOS may show a security prompt. Right-click the app and select "Open" to bypass Gatekeeper.

## Step 2: Import your passwords

Export passwords from your current password manager as a CSV file. The app will guide you through the import process.

### From 1Password

1. Open 1Password desktop app  
2. Go to **File → Export → All Items**  
3. Choose CSV format and save the file

### From Bitwarden

1. Log in to your Bitwarden web vault  
2. Go to **Tools → Export Vault**  
3. Select CSV format and download

### From LastPass

1. Log in to LastPass web vault  
2. Go to **Account Options → Advanced → Export**  
3. Save the CSV file

Then import into The Password App:

1. Click **Import passwords**  
2. Select your CSV file  
3. Review the imported accounts

## Step 3: Change your first password

1. Select an account from your list  
2. Click **Change password**  
3. Watch as the AI navigates to the website and updates your password  
4. When complete, the new password will be shown

The app generates strong, unique passwords for each account.
